Hindsight is 20/20, as they say. I’ve got a quick story to share that just might be of interest to you. A couple of weeks ago I fainted at an event I was hosting. It happened so suddenly. My heart was racing. My breathing became shallow and fast. I couldn’t feel my feet on the ground. One minute, I was facilitating a sound healing performance, the next moment I found myself curled in a ball on the floor. I awoke minutes later, feeling bewildered as to where I was or how I got there. Luckily, I was surrounded by compassionate friends and kindred spirits who expressed great concern for my wellbeing. Ultimately, I was fully cared for. So why am I sharing this little anecdote? Honouring The Physical Body Throughout much of my youth, a special mentor (who also happens to be my dear aunt) would frequently urge me to stay present and to remain in my body. She would remind me that I have this wondrous vehicle called the physical body, but only one life to enjoy it; in which case I must treasure my body, honour it, and take good care of it to the best of my abilities. Her constant reminders to honour the physical was especially compelling for me because I was born with two rare congenital birth defects, one neurological and one cardiac. Almost from the time of birth, I’ve had to discover and implement very creative ways to remain rooted in the here and now. As a very energetically sensitive individual with multidimensional gifts – and one who occasionally travels in the invisible realms – I’ve come to understand the wisdom of being fully grounded. What are Ascension Symptoms? This is especially true during the times we live because everything is moving so rapidly and the collective energies are constantly shifting. We’re all feeling it. Individuals from many walks of life and spiritual paths are experiencing a variety of strange and challenging symptoms – what some people like to call “ascension symptoms.” Ascension refers to a powerful evolutionary process that humanity is currently undergoing. It spans the spectrum of human experience: emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual. And it also impacts us in virtually all areas of our personal life, be it vocation, finances, romance, or spiritual purpose. While this transformational process can be extremely challenging at times, it’s also for our own highest good (both individually and collectively). Seven Grounding Tools The key to navigating life during uncertain times, fluctuating energies, or changing circumstances, is to have practical tools at your disposal. So whenever you’re feeling scattered or have difficulty focussing or just can’t seem to get into your normal flow, you’ll have a variety of easy-to-use practices that can get you back on track quickly. Below, I highlight what I consider to be seven of the most important grounding tools. Pick the ones that resonate with you, experiment with what works, and implement often. 1. Root Vegetables: Consume a variety of local, organic, non-GMO root vegetables such as beets, carrots, and squash. 2. Breathwork: Breath deeply into the belly while engaging the pelvic floor muscles. 3. Essential Oils: Use essential oils like patchouli, rosewood and sandalwood in your bath or in a diffuser. 4. Bach Flower Remedies: Add a few drops of Clematis Bach Flower remedy to your drinking water. 5. Grounding Crystals: Carry grounding crystals in your pocket like Botswana Agate, Hematite, Obsidian, Onyx, or Red Jasper. 6. Chakra Balancing: To find the wisdom through the 3rd eye and crown Chakra, trust that every experience has meaning for you to process and heal. 7. Vocal Toning: Use specific vocal sounds to ground your root chakra. You can intone the sound Uh or the Seed Sound LAM. Tying Up Loose Ends Earlier, I referenced my fainting spell at the sound workshop. What I didn’t share was a relevant insight that appeared in that moment. In the midst of my sudden collapse, many images flashed through my mind, one of which was a majestic walnut tree. The deeper the roots, the taller it grows. I see the tree’s growth as symbolizing something we all need to reinforce in our daily lives. Just like the walnut tree, we cannot grow spiritually if we are not deeply rooted and connected to the present moment. The goal is to become neutral. Accept the present. Experience this NOW moment from as many vantage points as possible. There are no right or wrong answers. Expand your awareness. Broaden your perspective. Allow the teachings that are relevant for YOU to trickle down from the Cosmos and integrate them into your life as best you can. As we move out of the powerfully creative energies of the dual Leo eclipses and the Lion’s Gate Portal – please reflect on all that personally matters to you. August (2017) provided us with ample opportunities to examine and contemplate the Light and dark energies, within us and the world around us. You must embrace what you want to take with you on the next leg of your journey. At the same time, have the courage to let go of what is no longer appropriate with gratitude, humility and resolve. Knowing what to keep and what to let go of becomes so much easier to discern when you are grounded, in your body, and present in the only moment that matters.
